Nicoderm
CQ patches are rebranded and marketed as the Nicabate CQ stop smoking
patch.
Nicoderm CQ
patches are exactly the same as the Nicabate CQ patches, and are
manufactured and distributed by the same company (GlaxoSmithKline,
GSK, ex SmithKline Beecham), but marketed under a different brand
name in New Zealand.

Nicotine patches
are one of the most proven forms of nicotine replacement therapy
in the world. They have been used by more than 20 million people
worldwide as part of their nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) quit
smoking programme. An estimated 400 million+ nicotine patches have
been distributed over the last few years.
Nicoderm CQ
patches seem to have a good safety record and are effective in helping
smokers to quit. Now they are available without prescription direct
from our online store.
Nicotine patches
can be a big help to you in your quit attempt by preventing the
common symptoms of nicotine withdrawal and the gradual reduction
of nicotine intake helps you ween your body off nicotine. Common
symptoms can include irritability, anger, mood swings, frustration
and anxiety.
The pattern
of nicotine supply with Nicoderm CQ patches is different to that
from cigarettes: nicotine is absorbed slowly through the skin to
reach the bloodstream. The Nicoderm CQ nicotine patch therefore
does not give the intense rush or hit of nicotine ("the buzz”)
that is associated with smoking a cigarette or roll-up tobacco.

The Nicoderm
CQ quitting process can consist of up to 3 stages.
As a
quick guide:
If you smoke more than 10 cigarettes a day and weigh over 45kg you
are probably highly addicted to nicotine and should start at Step
1 (21mg nicotine patch).
If you smoke less than 10 cigarettes per day or weigh less than
45kg you may be moderately addicted to nicotine and should start
at Step 2 (14mg nicotine patch).
If you start on Step
1 (21 mg patch), use this for six weeks before moving to Step 2
(14 mg patch) for two weeks and then Step 3 (7 mg patch) for 2 weeks.
If you start on Step
2 (14 mg patch), use this for six weeks before moving to Step 3
(7 mg patch) for two to four weeks.
A new Nicoderm
CQ patch should be applied once a day and at around about the same
time each day, preferably soon after waking up in the morning. Leave
this patch in place for 24 hours and always try to choose a different
area of skin on which to place the new patch. We advise that you
do not re-use the same application site on your body for at least
seven days.
A big part of
the quitting process is still down to you and your own willpower.
Nicotine patches can help improve your chances of kicking your nicotine
addiction and quitting smoking for good.
